Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he doesn’t become a monster and if you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.

We need to be courageous, we need to have principles, not just beliefs. There’s  a difference between principles and beliefs. You can believe something because it’s trendy, but if you have a principle fairness, that sort of determines how you speak to people.

We should all be curious and interested in each other. We should not assign ill-intent to everyone, that’s quite paranoid. If most of us understood how most of us hate ourselves to whatever degree, we don’t have time to hate someone else for the most part. We might have some stereotypes about each other and we can diminish those if we speak to one another. So we have to speak to one another. We can’t afford to see every conversation that is difficult as emotional labour. Life/Existing is an emotional labour to some capacity. If these things matter to you then talk to people.

It is easy to become the thing that we dislike, and sometimes the thing that we strongly dislike in other people is an unchecked part of ourselves. Maybe we should be talking about our own capacity for destruction. src AA.
